i have never been terribly interested in aircraft, but i know some of you are! I was drunk on the beach all day (ocean shitty, maryland) and happened to have my camera with me. Unannounced, we were presented with a 3+ hour insane and insanely close air show! Here are the pics i grabbed...

Anyone want to explain what was going on? training? of course, the pics don’t do justice to how close these planes were. It seemed as if they were making laps of the beach, getting close and closer each lap. Pics could have been a lot better, but it was the first day with my new lens and I was inebriated... Canon 60D, 10-18mm ef-s lens.. except the last two (the noticeably dirty lens) were shot with a 40mm ef pancake lens.

Schedule says they perform this weekend in Maryland so I would assume that is one of their various pre-show practices.

Blue Angels FTW.

Even without looking at the full-size picture I could tell that blue F/A-18s flying in close formation can only mean one thing. That it was unannounced must mean its a training flight. That they did it near a beach where hundreds of random people would be left awestruck is on purpose. Your tax dollars at work! :D

I’d rather see my tax dollars spent thus than invading Iraq again.
